Default How much boost should I expect to lose

With exhaust cutouts. Stock exhaust manifold with a single cutout installed after the Y. With a little reduction in backpressure how much boost do you guys think I could reasonable expect to lose if any?

6.2L TVS1900 @ approx 6# now.

Hmmm, not sure but I'm interested in your results.

If you lose any at all I'd guess about .5psi.

Over the stock manifolds I bet ~1lb but remember, boost is a measurement of pressure in the intake manifold and not the cylinder. You might make more hp up top with less boost.

You will pick up lots of power up top!

The truck is still 100% stock drivetrain wise except for the TVS so it is still all standard exhaust components on it right now.

I like to tinker with stuff to make it work better ... that being said ... what I am thinking about doing is to install a pressure actuated cutout so that when my pressure reaches say 5PSI it would open the cutout and allow for hopefully a bit more free flowing exhaust.

What I am shooting for with this method is I want it to be automatic and stock quiet until near full boost. Also under consideration is how big of a hole does the exhaust need to minimize the backpressure from the down stream components. So if I punched a 2" hole in the exhaust pipe would it be sufficient to mitigate the backpressure effect of the existing exhaust. Some exhaust would flow out of the 2" hole and the rest would take the standard path but with less volume I would think it would create less backpressure from the stock components. If that is all the bigger the hole would need to be I was considering using a standard off the shelf wastegate from a turbo setup and just running a boost line to it in order to activate it at the proper time. I don't want the valve to flutter which is the reason I am interested in the differences I might see in boost with and without the exhaust cutout open.

Gimme your thoughts.
