What size turbo?
Gears?

Mine would get 6psi no matter what but it was a 60mm.

Stock sts 60mm turbo, 3.42 gears. I'm still dealing with wastegate issues. I'm using a super soft spring from a 4l60e trans. It opens early in first gear and apparently in 2nd the wastegate is not big enough ? With the stock sts 5.8lb spring it will go instantly to 10 psi in first gear at 1/2 throttle, I never tried going wot with that spring in, not sure what would happen ? Everything is hooked up correctly and the wastegate is fine.

the lq9 (stock) is only good for 12psi with a intercooler, no meth, 93 octane the pistons melt

i would look into a bigger turbo, your pretty much maxing the 60mm which is why she's running hot, what size wastegate?

A melted piston means it went lean from a fuel issue or bad tune. Not too much boost.

And i believe the other fella needs to go with a bigger turbo, or less boost.
That 60mm isnt near big enought for 10psi on a 6.0.

My buddy has a 5.3 and had a small 60mm on 10psi.
Went to a 76mm. On the same boost level it went from a 12.6 to a 12.2.
IATs were bout 60* cooler at the 1/4 mile trap.

The wastegate is 38mm. I figured the 60mm turbo would be maxed out behind a 6.0l. What do you guys think a better choice for right now would be, go with a bigger turbo or get an intercooler ? From the sounds of it I could put on an intercooler, lower the boost to 8psi and it would make as much power as at 10 psi with now intercooler ?

Id go ahead and do a 70 or 76mm with an intercooler and it will roll out!
That lil 60 is good for 6psi. Much mure and your making heat. The 70mm on 10# and a IC would be just bout perfect.
The 76mm would let you have more power potential later on.

Yeah, no. It all depends on ambient.

When I ran my STS kit on 7psi, my IATs were 190*

... in Florida.
