Default Hey Maggie guys........

Is there any way to spin a front drive Maggie faster than a small blower pulley spins it? The rear drive guys have it easy. Lots of options. I realize there are bigger crank pullies, but that seems to be counterproductive to spin everything faster. Non blower apps all run underdrive crank pullies to slow crank driven accessories down and pick up a few HP. Maybe a two part crank pulley. Small inside to drive the accessories and a bigger diameter outside to drive just the blower. There's plenty of room between the front of the motor and the radiator. The downside would be that the blower snout would have to be stouter (ie longer). You could even have a two part pulley on one of the other accessories to drive just the blower. Lots of ways to skin that cat. Has anyone done any work in this area?

Sure, if you could figure out a way to put a stand alone pulley extension on the front of the balancer.....I could make you a nose drive

The engineering wing of my vast farming operation isn't real busy right now. I know we could come up with a two diameter pulley that would drive accessories (slowly) and the blower (insanely fast), but I'm not confident that the pulley would do an adequate job of balancing harmonics.

I've scheduled a meeting with my best and brightest minds for early AM. I know you, and the rest of the PT community, are waiting on pins and needles. I'll advise as things develop.

I would find a way to ADD it to the stock balancer.

Thats easy enough. The next question is how hard you wanting to spin the blower? Or how hard can it spun and still not over heat the air?

It should be doable, Whipple uses an add on pulley onto the stock dampner/pulley. The only problem with their's is that it is a smaller diameter than the stock pulley arangement. If you could get your hands on one for measurement purposes though, it should prove helpfull on getting one built to the diameter your looking for.

There's a post from NORCAL TBSS that has a rear drive 112HH pushing 13psi on a 370. My front drive 122HH with a 2.8" snout pulley has a hard time making 9psi. I'd like to push things a little and get into the 12 to 15psi range. I'm confident I could tear up lots of chit with that much boost.

You are reading the boost too much. Look at the numbers that 112HH put down on a well built motor with lots of goodies around it. Pretty close to what Trever's 5.3L made with a 5.3L and less cam. It's a nice setup, but would probably make about the same power on less boost. Make a quarter mile pass with your 122HH and check your IAT's as it sits right now. Spinning it up more will just create more heat.

If that 112HH looks good at high boost numbers, am I out of line to think that my 122HH should do better?

Your 122HH will do better at high boost, but where do you see that he's doing good? He made good torque, but about 100 less hp than the TVS2300 and the 112HH is at 3psi more.
