I haven't done anything to my tranny yet but I don't run the he!! out of my truck either. I just figured I'd run it until it shoots craps and then replace it with an FLP level V tranny or something similar. THEN I will put on a smaller pulley, take it somewhere and have a dyno tune done on it, and really start having some fun!
I plan to take the truck to Gateway for a 1/4 mile track day sometime and have debated on the best way to try to help assure the tranny doesn't take a hit. I've thought about running in Auto 4-wheel drive mode. It seems to me the whole driveline would be taking the stress then, plus you wouldn't have any traction issues getting off the line either.

DO NOT DRAG RACE in AUTO4WD, select normal 4wd and all will be fine. You will break the auto 4wd actuator plunger if the rears start spinning then teh AUto 4wd kicks in, its much better to have the stress added to the front from the start and not slammed to the front dif thru auto 4wd actuation.

Ya, I have. There basically a belt driven centrifugal supercharger that runs off a pulley you mount to the alternator. A few S-10 guys have tried them, but I haven't seen any on full size trucks yet. They don't come with an intercooler, and I'm not sure how much boost you could run with it before running out of compressor. I would rate them at just under a Powerdyne on the performance charts.

Well it's been a month since I posted anything so I'll bring you up to date.
I went a little different direction from most. The Avalanche is now Vortech supercharged. The biggest reason I went this way was the easy of installation with my body lift.
I just got it going this weekend but my first impressions are favorable. I have just a touch of detonation just before the shift. I'm going to change out my TR55IX plugs to TR6s. I hope that takes care of it if not, I'll get it.
As of now I just have the supplied Superchips tune in it so I feel like there is a ton more power to be had.
