Default HELP!!! Frozen Vortech

I thought I would drive the truck today for a change and what do you know bad things happen. Doing about 80mph down the freeway and hear a bad bad noise come from the engine bay. Next thing I know the battery charging system warning, the brake boost warning........ect well no big deal I blew the belt....and THE DAMN VORTECH head unit is locked solid.
Question, do you guys know if I can through the stock belt on and bypass the blower and get the truck to run home, will it go into limp mod because of the tune and injecters? Also can I just have the head unit rebuilt? Is this something I can do, if Vortech doen't cover it? What a fucked day so far! Looking for some ideas on what to do here. Now I have to tow $$$$$$$$$$

Man, that sucks!! Sorry to hear, I do know that the head unit can be rebuilt if need be. You should definitely check to see if it can be covered under warranty before going somewhere else. They should warranty the part they send back to you also. Good luck, let us know how it turns out.

Hope you didn't have all the metal go through the motor too.

I dont think that would happen only because it would have to make through the aftercooler. I hope that holds true, anyone out there what are your thoughts on that?

Crappy luck Ric! Do you think it was due to the cold temps we have been having?...poor oil flow? You may have to do the nitrous bottle warmer and isolated reservior idea that yo0u had. Keep us posted.

Sounds like the impeller surged and hit the volute. I shouldn't see an issue with Vortech warranty the supercharger. It isn't something you can fix . I would call Jaime in the tech. dept at Vortech. Another thing....if its not the impeller....sometimes the gear teeth in the system break so that will need to be replaced. When you contact Jaime....tell him Tarrant sent you. He should hook you up!

This is the exact reason why I belong to this site, thanks man for the hook up. I was so worried about buying a $5,000 charger and then being screwed. I will be taking the head unit out to Az with me next week and then sending it out to Cali from there. I will keep you posted on the outcome......worst case is I have to pay for a rebuild-ouch! What does a rebuild cost, and what are the chances of me having to pay?

How long ago did you purchase your blower? If they have to replace the gears in the unit...it would cost about $600-$700.( If not under warranty). Ric.....If you want...I could give Jaime a call and just see if he could warranty the unit. I am just going to need your full name so I can give him a heads up and let him know that you will be calling. Let me know!!

That sounds good. I had already talked to someone this morning about the unit @ vortech and he asked when I bought it. I never gave him my name or anything, I know his name was not Jamie. Anyway I bought it in April of this year so it is still under wattanty. You know what I will PM you the rest of the info to include the serial number on the unit.
