Default which heads for FI 408?

i'm looking at a few setups.

-All Pro heads

-ET 240 heads

-AFR 225

or

-317 with 918 springs

If the 317's will work, i'll do that. Anyone have any thoughts?

With a NA application the heads are crucial. FI and you won't see as big of gains. It is just a matter of budget. You will definately see gains though with a bigger set of heads. The 317's flow damn good though!

They do,
BLOWN364 just made 502rwhp yesterday on the dyno with bone stock heads, Radix, Headers/Exhaust, and a stock LQ4 Cam w/1.8 H/S Roller Rockers.

I would question using the ET 240 heads because they use a 11degree valve angle instead of the standard LS 15degree angle and the potential piston to valve interfearence caused by the valve reliefs on the pistons being incorrectly positioned. All of your other alternatives sound ok.

The valve reliefs on the piston would most likely have to be re-cut of course. That isn't much of a problem if you are building the motor anyway.

The ET heads would be put on the 408 by the engine builder. The All Pro heads are on an engine that GMC SKI has for sale, and the 317's with 918 springs are for sale on this site.

I was wondering if I could by the 402 from GMC SKI, sell the all pro heads, and just slap the 317's on. Am I over simplifying this?

A head swap is easy, especially out of the truck.

My vote are the 317's w/ 918 springs. Those heads have a pretty large runner comparatively speaking. So unless you have tons of cash or huge hp goals, I would stick w/ those.
