Default Gt 67 ?

Guys, im debating on upgrading my turbo to a gt 67. Right now i 'm running 8 psi with really great I.A.T's. (usually 5 -12* over ambient) , In the future id like to run more boost and down the road a forged motor, But for now at my current level will i notice a performance gain with a turbo upgrade? I dont want to lose any low end either--Thanks, TIM

Do it Tim. I think you may have a slight amount more lag even with the stall but not sure, I have compressor maps for both on my comp. somewhere. Ill have to look. Where are the turbo guru's.

Still got the 5.3? What turbo do you have now? My 60-1 witha GT whell was pretty good with the 5.3, and ran on the 6.0 for a bit, now I have the GT67, which moves a bit more air at a lower temp, but higher up in the rpm range.

Basicly with the 6.0L and the 60-1, sitting at a light, stabbing the gas would equal tire smoke coming on about half way through the intersection. throw a GT-67 on and now it is on the other side of the intersection.
I'd start saving up for a good built engine and then buy the turbo.

yeah, still the stock 5.3 and 60-1. the truck runs great now, just wandered if the 67 would better compliment my truck now or if i should just wait for down the road when i get a forged 6.0. I know i dont have the 60-1 working too hard now @ 8 psi. Thanks for the input.

I just did a switch from my T60-1 to a GT67 last week. Maybe this will show some differences. The 60 gave me boost drop issues but the 67 holds boost great. I also will be upgrading to forged internals and this swap was to prepare for that. The 67 runs lower EGT's. I dropped by about 75 degree's.

I've lost about 1/2 second 0 to 60 at 5 to 7psi. But again, the unit is only a few hours old now so it's still pretty tight. The "whistle flutter" you hear a little is my turbo oil alarm. (I've now fixed that).

My 4x4 QC weighed in at 6000#.

This was my latest T60-1 video. Notice all the trans shifting at take off. 1st to 2nd, back to 1st, back to 2nd.

This is an equivalent video with the new GT67 (about an hour of use on it)

And this is putting a SLIGHT rev on it with the GT67. I probably let it build about 500rpms before flooring it. The street was straight, notice how long my wheel was cocked to the side. You can watch my rpms and see that it spun through about 50 to 55mph before it caught. 6psi.

What about a T-70? TRT is selling them and they look pretty good.

It's a master power turbo. I talked to Billy and he said he had a customer who upgraded from a 60-1 turbo to the T-70 and he said at 5 psi, the t-70 felt stronger than the 60-1. Here are a few pics of it, sorry about the size.
