Cool Eaton.. Ported vs. Non ***SPLIT FROM OTHER THREAD***

This thread will be the place to talk about a "ported" Eaton supercharger vs a stock Eaton supercharger.

Original thread a question was asked "why would you remove the coating off of the rotors?"

steig offers rotor stripping. they tend to advise on it cause sooner or later the teflon will start to flake off. also gives lil more clearance i reckon

Hate to tell you guys, although the coating does come off over time....removing it takes away from the efficency of the blower.

It doesnt seem to effect our trucks though. When ported we get 2psi more, and lower intake air temps.

that's a substantial increase, good deal, looks like a job well done
was there any other blending or porting involved?

Takeing the coating off will make the blower less efficient at the higher RPM range....

One of the premier blower porters in the country, Bob Stiegemeier, actually performed tests on his blowers to determine that fact and found out that it truly didn't affect the efficiency at all..................

Rotor stripping

Mr. B,
I wish I still had access to the information that would prove that wrong.....I worked for EATON/Magnuson for the better part of two years. I have spent countless hours in test rooms proving the exact opposite of what is being claimed in that/this thread. The one thing I can tell you is that the Gen 4 rotors (Lightning) were coated and tested against an un coated rotor group....each time the coated rotors surpassed the un coated in efficiency. Removing the coating from the rotors is the equivalent of the Teflon strips going away on an old roots two lobe rotor. The GEN 5 rotors are actually coated with an APC (abrade able powder coating)...the reason behind this was in testing the GEN 4 (lightning) blowers it was proven that the EGR "filled" the imperfections in the rotors increasing the efficiency even more over time.....Sorry to say that the information that Stiegemeier is providing you is wrong.....

"Rotor Flake" is not the leading cause of blower damage....I have not seen ONE EATON supercharger come in due to failure by "ROTOR FLAKE". But I guess being the only AUTHORIZED EATON supercharger manufacture in North America does not get us any kudos. Sorry guys, this IS the facts not BS. Pretty is not always functional.

That's a good point, BlownChevy. But I didn't do it to be pretty. I did it because I would rather have the teflon off now, and lose a little efficiency, then have it clog up my I/C.
