Your combo sounds like what/how my STS used to work. I was cutting 2.7 sec 60' and wouldn't hit boost till about the 330' mark and 4500 rpm's. After that it was all kinds of fun and squirlyness since it was making 747rwhp/8xx rwtq. It wasn't much fun from a dig which is why I changed it all up.

It's not really that bad, i'm just not used to the change yet. I got on the 2-step set at 3300, after 4 seconds it was at 5psi and likely could have pulled 6-7 another second or so. I bet a 3500 will pull around 10 or so and I should be ok. It's the below 3k driving light to light with no turbo is what the big change was.

That said the quick hit to 20psi was just retarded.

As to the gate setup, i'm going to call my exhaust guy tomorrow and get his opinion on my best option/keep it clean.

Honestly man, it's really quiet. Since my wheel is GTX-R look a like in my opinion, they advertise it as "ultra quiet" and mine is to. It just deep 4" exhaust growl and butt in the seat action and when I do let off out of big boost the tial BOV seems to release more like a air compressor tank busting or a damn semi tire blowing lol.

Interesting... When I went from the S475 with 7 blades to the S480 with 8, it also got quieter. Probably damn near silent with 11 lol. I know what you mean about that BOV, sounds like an airlift jack letting the front of the truck come back down to the ground

I dunno if its the blades, my whole damn truck is stupid quiet at idle (which I don't mind actually) and its not a fancy bladed wheel. I think it has to do more with how big the DP and exhaust is.

I meant boost noise, like the whistle. My MP70s are even more audible than the S475 was.

I think that race cover makes the whistle quieter too...

Looks awesome man. Get her dialed in and to the track. Just spray 100 shot to get it moving lol

Did you ever try a PT76/75 ?

Knowing what you know, what turbo would you like for a reg cab S10 4.8, studs/gaskets , 222/226 cam , powerglide/3600 w/ brake, ??? I might know a guy building this!

I did and I think it would out spool this turbo. However I think this one would come around it at the same PSI.

For a light weight drag truck and with a 4.8 with a good stall, I'd go t4 s475 with the 1.10-1.25 and 83/74 turbine. I just don't think here is a need for more on a 700-800HP 4.8

I'd also bet you can get away with a faster spooling 1.0 on a 4.8 as well and still go well north of 700HP.

You looking for more power at lower boost with this turbo? Or did it just turn out that way
