Default Dome or dish piston question

I have a 2000 chevy RCSB with 5.3/4L80 and Huron Speed turbo kit. I reused the factory pistons and new rings gapped at 0.026. Roughly 15# of boost and #7 popped part of the piston apart. Block survived. This is just a toy so I don’t need or want anything stupid expensive. Looking at Summit Racing Pro LS forged pistons. My main question is do I go with the dish style or dome? Pump gas and driven on the street daily during nicer weather. And what rings? Apparently need to gap a bit wider this go around too LOL. Appreciate the help.

You need to figure out what pistons will put you at the CR you are looking for.

I don’t want to venture to far away from factory CR, hence pump gas and a DD at times. I have factory 862 heads and used BTR LS9 HG’s. I suspect the dish pistons is what I will go with but I wanted other opinions before I pull the trigger. I’m pretty green to the boosted world. Thanks

Compression Ratio Calculator - Wallace Racing

Assuming 93 octane, shoot for ~10.5:1 CR

The calculator will help you put all the pieces together

I recommend the 7cc dish in the pistons mentioned to keep compression ~9.5:1 if keeping boost at 15# or more. The 2cc dome is going to put compression ~10.6:1 which isn't out of the tunable realm of 15# and 93oct pump gas but will need a really good tuner and solid fuel system to keep it alive. 10.6:1 will feel more responsive out of boost. 9.5:1 will be a little more forgiving with a 2618 piston if using a novice tuner and/or questionable fuel system.
