Default Do I need this stuff ?

03 rcsb with stock 4.8. Doing log type manifold with gt45 turbo. I was wondering if a vacuum block is needed for my setup ? Only going with 4psi on SD tune while I save up to get an 80e. Will not be using boost controller with this set up. Only need vacuum for FPR, wg, bov and boost gauge. Also is an oil catch can necessary ? I seen a couple of people using breathers.

Thanks I'm advance, pictures will be highly appreciated.

Go ahead and order you a vacuum log. If not, you will spend just as much in brass fittings at the part store. I personally wish I would have. One of those piece of mind things. Looks better, functions better, etc...

Ive got mine set up with breathers now. Havent had any issues so far.

If you are going down the same road I think you are (budget turbo road), buy every single thing you think you will need. Dont forget the 3.75'' t bolt clamp for the throttle body or the 2.5'' mandrel bends for the crossover (using as examples), because you think you can pick it up at the part store. More than likely you cant, and it will put you another week out waiting on shipping. Dont assume you can get parts at the local parts store. Even if you can, it will more than likely be more expensive than ordering. Plan for everything you can.

Dont forget a turbo blanket, and wrap too. On my build, I didnt realize how hot a turbo gets. I could have swore I was going to bake the paint off of my hood lol. Underhood temps are something that I overlooked. Had to wait another week on parts before I drove the truck more than 5 minutes at a time. A blanket is a must IMO.

Good luck with your build

I made a block out of brass(unfortunately), but I just cut my brake booster line and installed it inline. Rather that is the right way to do it or not, I dont know. Thats the way ive ran it for about 1000 miles though. I run my map sensor, bov, and boost gauge off the manifold. Reference my gate and mbc off the compressor source. Had the gate ran off engine vacuum for a while, and couldnt tell much of a difference from how it is now.

Check out my build thread. I used a kbracing log manifold and a gt45 turbo. Id like to see someone get a gt45 setup right on a truck. Its only a matter of time. Turbocharging on a budget is becoming very popular now a days. Now someone needs to get a stong combination going with a budget turbo!

The wastegate should be ran on boost pressure only, not vacuum/boost. Some people hook it to vacuum without issues, but most directions say not to.

Interesting. I run everything off the same system with T fittings and rubber hose. So far so good
