Haha well I don't feel like it would go that far. Since we're on the subject, all lq9s have the better rods, it was just 04.5+ lq4s that were upgrade? Or were the lq4s and lq9 upgraded then?

I think it was some 04's and all starting in 05, I think they are the same rods as the LS2. That's my understanding, not positive. They are stronger, but not that much stronger. Its not like they are forged or billet.

The 9 rods are significantly stronger. Multiple examples of the ls1 style rods bending at 800hp. Lq9 rods hold 1000+

Horsepower isn't necessarily an accurate measure of when they bend. As I stated previously high cylinder pressures at low rpm will bend a Rod at a lower hp level then a setup that makes significantly more on topend. Blowers are much harder on the bottom end, ESP positive displacement. Turbos are much easier on the bottom end. The exhaust back pressure also helps the rods on the exhaust stroke as they are reaching TDC. It helps dampen the shock so to speak.

As far as the stock longblock, gaskets and head bolts go, I think it's fine. My tuner has a 4.8 stock longblock, the heads have never been off. Just an ls6 cam, E85 and a turbo and it has made 904rwhp at like 23 or 24lbs of boost and ran 8.50s in a nova. Again, this is with a turbo, which applies power differently than a blower, but I think you're fine with a good tune.

Well it didn't blow up! Also didn't make the power I was expecting from it, but gains are gains! The torque is the most noticeable seat of the pants.
