Default Damn, WTF Whipple?

I have been trying to get some answers on alternatives to my 2.3L compressor, hoping Whipple might have some suggestions. I have maxed this 2.3L pump out as far as I can tell and would love to add a few more cubes. I really cant do anything to the truck because I fear i will lose what little precious boost i have.

I wanted to add exhaust to it but I am afraid if i open it up a little, i will lose even more boost. I only see about 6-7psi MAX with my setup (with intercooler) and I know that 3.3L would wake this baby up a bit. I have a solid SD tune in it and know it could handle some more boost with a new set of injectors and fuel pump.

Anyway, i hop on Whipples site and to my suprise, they dont even offer the 8.1L kits anymore!! Why? Because they dropped the 8.1L from the engine line up? That just sucks ***! I dont want to spend the bucks getting into custom intakes and stuff, but it looks like no one is manufacturing blowers for the 8.1L trucks anymore. Not Kenne Bell, not Whipple, and I assume not Maggy either. Us 496 guys have it hard enough trying keep up with the small block guys and now this........Sorry, just thought I would pop in and wine a little. Maybe its just time to yank off the whipple, buy a 1500 RCSB 4WD, and join the small block team....

Opening up the exhaust may lose you a pound or two of boost but you have to remember that boost #'s are only indicative of resistance measured in the manifold, meaning you will have more hp at the lower boost levels due to the relief of the restriction.

Good point, but how will it effect my top end? The low to mid range is where this truck shines already. I can pull 1.85 60' times with 5.35 0-60mph times with this truck. Might not sound all that great, but for the weight of this thing, thats not bad. Where I need help is in the top end....after about the 1/8 mile point, it starts to fall a little flat. I dont want an all out race truck, thats not what the 2500HD was designed for really, I just want to feed it a little more is all.

give Rick @ Trick a call. Drop off your truck, come back and pick it up with a turbo on it.!

My advice, ADD a STS to your Whipple . Still have the great lowend you have now, and the turbo will get the boost up and give a nice topend. I want to do this, but I'm poor
