Default Change Pulley = Change belt size?

If I go from 3.4 to 3.2 or 3.1 shud I get a shorter belt. If I stay the same do I risk belt slap and throwing the belt? R/

Well...I did thro the belt...was jacking the truck trying to prompt a race and once I floored it the belt flew. Musta been slap as it wasn't damaged and I was able to put it back on after a scary moment or 2 with no steering!
