We have used a little of everything; straight up, reverse, etc.. most with turbos though. The 228 115 cam works very well. We have done a couple 226/220 .580s 115,
224/228 114, on some bigger motors 232/228 and 236/230. Used a couple of GT-7s too. My preference according to how the cars and trucks act is the 228 115 and the 224/228 cams.
We will be done with a Hummer H2 with a 408 soon and it has a 236/232 .601 .595 115.

I have a ls6 cam to go in mine. Safe and cheap. Hey trtturbo, how much gain is to be had on a stock lq4 if I was to jump to a 228 cam like you suggest? Will the daily drivability suffer with that cam?
Sorry to highjack, but I think the answers would be a relevant addition to the thread. thanks!

It's a solid blower cam. The only thing it has going for it from a turbo perspective is the wide lsa. Superchargers want a big exhaust bias to help them breath efficiently. Turbos want an intake bias, but are less susceptible to the influences of cam pattern (except for overlap of course).
From my experience trying first a 230/236 114 and then a 236/230 115, all else the same, the reverse split is the way to go. It was smoother running, easier to tune, and ramped up power quicker (sotp meter).
