Cam for LS2 with maggie?
#11
Sorry Bill, but I won't be able to make it next month. I still have a huge parts pile that I am just beginning to install and still have parts on backorder. I should be done by the end of Feb.
That is a lot of compression! I think I would stick with the GT2-3, I kinda went out on a limb trying the GT-7 because I already had the 1.8 rockers that I wanted to use. I was a little worried about loosing the needle bearings in the stock rockers using stiffer valve springs with a more aggressive cam. Vinci makes some cams that are a comprimise between the GT2-3 and the GT2-5 if you wanted something in the middle. Vinci's cams are on a 115 lsa and have similar duration.

yah with the maggie i wanted to make sure i had enough flow for it i hope i got that covered.
i called blownchevy left a message ill hear from him tomm i hope then we can see whats up. Im thinkin hey if the front end has to come off for the maggie install mabe we can slip a cam in at the same time since the manifold will be off.
so gt7 might be overkill?

ill be runnina 2.9 pulley and then 2.8 on race gas. blownchevy is doing the install i towed my truck to him yesterday with my other truck (made it up the grapevine with no probs tranny temp went up to about 190)
after doing a search i think the gt2-3 might be the way to go (i dont know if ls2 uses 1.6 or 1.7 rockers) also i have a bigger spearco intercooler being made that dropped temps by more than 50 degrees.

do you have a tbss also??
a mamber on another forum made a custom sperco intercooler for his customer so he keps the specs and when i called me he told me about it. The intercooler takes up the entire front and he said just squeaks in there to fit. I wont be running a front grill when racing so should keep the temp down a little more. Talking to brian im not going to run a meth kit ill prob do a jug set up but we shall see. I street race a lot so i just want a combo to run low 12 and ill be happy. I still have to get a tranny because i allready have the yank sc3000 waiting to go in. also 275 40 17 mt drag rads are ready for it also

The GT2-3 cam is a proven performer. I did a lot of research before I bought my cam. My conclusion was that there are cams that will provide more top end power at the cost of driveability. The 6.0 could definately use a larger cam, just not sure what the power difference would be.
Just be sure to keep the lsa up to prevent boost bleed because whatever you lose with a cam you probably arent going to get back b/c the maggie is maxxed out.

This is mine:

I hope I don't run into you in a street race! Especially with those DR's on your truck, those look awesome. I think you can meet your low 12 sec goal. We will all have to hook up at the next track day, I won't quite be ready for this one coming up.
I have a 112 maggie kit for my truck with a GT-7 cam, Crane 1.8 rockers, 1 7/8" custom Stainless works headers, true dual 3" Magnaflow exhaust, HD-2 shift kit in a 4l80e. And right now my truck is bone stock! I am going to try and get all this put together in the next few weeks.
