Here is the post from an L33 discussion.
https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...3/#post4103447

4.8 Specs
4.8 stroke: 3.268
4.8 rod : 6.275
4.8 deck height: 9.240

5.3 Specs
5.3 stroke:3.622
5.3 rod: 6.098
5.3 deck height: 9.240

Now do the math: the centerline of the cank is half the stroke of couse and the deck height is measured of the centerline of the crank.

5.3 Stroke 3.622/2 = 1.811
4.8 Stroke 3.268/2 = 1.634

5.3:
1.811 + 6.098 = 7.909
9.240 - 7.909 = 1.331 Pin Height

4.8:
1.634 + 6.275 = 7.909
9.240 - 7.909 = 1.331 Pin Height

It's 2 things the 4.8 has a shorter stroke makeing it easier to wind up. The 4.8 piston itself is actually a solid flat top while the 5.3L has an 8cc dish in it. technically you can swap the parts but the 5.3L piston would technically be thinner and weeker.

People actually throw these engines out. I have some presspin 4.8L rods but I already sold the pistons...

If I don't get to the other project, I also have some other 4.8L parts I would be looking to sale. I had to buy 2 engines to make one good one.

The 4.8 parts can be had cheap if you shop around because people want to go bigger.

Thats good information but I'm more interested in your claim regarding spool time. And regardless of the technicalities over the difference in stroke, the 4.8 will take more abuse than any other stock LS engine. If your shooting for 800 this is something to consider. That is all

No wounds here!

We do stock the Wiseco's you are referring to. Both the 3.780" and 3.800 bore for 3.622" stroke. $549.95

I'm no expert at all but I think it'd be smart money to go all forged rotating assembly. If you're going for big numbers and you want reliability it'd be wise to spend the money at first on your short block. Repeatedly pulling out blown engines from underneath a bunch of turbo piping will get old fast. Good luck, sounds like a rad build.

this is where tuning comes in. the crank is plenty strong to take the abuse. if any thing rods and pistons. the parts, especially in the newer motors are very strong. the rods that were in the ls2 and the like that everybody said were huge and great are now in the 5.3's.
