LOl the way this read they are the same thing, but one vents into the air and one vents back to intake http://www.jumptronix.com/2g_go_fast...owOffValve.htm

See on my set up it vented it back to the intake or it was, not now, thats what the bypass is for on the kits. i guess once it is vented to the air it is called a BOV, probable they are made slightly different..

I know the bypass cannot regulate max boost level.I also read don't run a BOV with a centrifical blower.

they are the same thing other than one is plumbed back into the intake pipe and the other vents to atmosphere. many bovs come with hose adapter and a horn adapter so you can use them either way.

I have read that but then it is always contradicted by then saying that a centri blower and turbo work the same way, only the driving of the unitsare diff. which is totally true. Also if that was the case why would procharger sell a unit like this http://procharger.com/store/index.ph...od&productId=2. The bypass and blow off are the same. Also alot of the BOV I seen say they can be used on turbo and blower setups. Not arguing at all, so don't take it like that..

I think that is a bypass and not a BOV.BOV can be adjusted by changing a spring to hold it at a max boost.A bypass does not bleed off boost at all, boost increases with rpm.If you bleed off boost with a centri as rpm's increase you increase your parasitic loss, where turbos don't have the parasitic loss. Our max boost is reached at our shift points.
I wanted to increase rpm on my set up and keep max boost at a certain level with a BOV but learned that I would do better with a restictor on my filter[inlet to blower] side.

I dunno, you thinking about a waste gate? That can be adjusted based on what boost you want it to bleed off, is used on turbo setups, so you don't over boost. The bypass certainly bleeds boost off but back to the intake, not the atmosphere..
