they basically regulate the amount of boost the wastegate actually sees. you can put one together for a couple of bucks at your local hardware store. I've seen um regulate around 28psi coming from a 78mm turbo on a supra, with no spiking issues.

Ask tierod how much I like those controllers. Set it for 7psi and if its cold or wet out it might run 14psi or it might only run 5psi

how did you "set it" at 7psi? were you at wide open throttle driving and have a friend adjust the manual control during this time?

not saying you didnt have problems, but out of the 8 or 9 i've seen ran on that supra (car made low 700ish on pump gas to the wheels) there were never any issues.

Tried doing it under boost and also with a calibration table for doing industrial E to P controllers. It just seems like under really cold or damp conditions the manual ones kinda freeze. But alas we never had one in the engine bay or inside the car

for giggles once, we did our own "home made 2 stage" boost controller. took a valve that operates off of 12vdc that is usually used in the hvac industry, powered it with a rocker switch, had one line to run straight wastegate, then the other line was routed through the manual controller. soooo, when you hit the switch, your boost could go from whatever your spring is (say 12 pounds), to your high setting (say 25 lbs.) was very fun. but yeah, always mounted everything inside the car, alot of vacuum hose run, but alot easier to adjust.

lol been wanting to use that one, but yea I agree. I'm starting to think not being able to increase my boost might not be such a bad thing.

you're brave cant see trusting a home made boostcontroller on any turbo setup. Why spend all that money and cheap out on a very important piece of the puzzle. im running a Greddy EBC with a 5 pound spring
