blow off valve

You don't want a BOV, you want a Bypass valve. You can get by at that boost with the black anodized procharger one that comes in their newer kits, or get the Race bypass from procharger.
I like to use the Vortec Mondo bypass when higher amounts of air bypass is needed. You need to calculate the cfm your blower is making, and find a valve that can handle it. I have had cars that are a nightmare to tune only to be fixed with a proper sized bypass.
Superchargers make the same airflow being belt driven at any throttle position at any given RPM.

Is it because of being belt driven or the maf?

I'm running a Vortech Race Bypass and an eBay 3" cast adapter. At 320cfm flow rate, it will easily handle a D-1SC. If you buy a used one, just make sure it's the Bypass model, not the Blow-off version. They look the same but as Superado's link explained, a bypass is open all the time unless your under 4-5 inches of vacumn. The BOV is normally closed and just "burps" the excess boost when you suddenly close the throttle.
This is the adapter I'm running for the Vortech. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Type-...4294QQtcZphoto
It just replaces the stock ATI adapter pipe and lets you avoid buying a mounting flange and welding. I went to the local Auto Zone and found a pre-curved radiator hose that I used to go from the Bypass valve to the air filter elbow. Keeps everything out of view.
