APS twin turbo truck kit?
#11
I wrote to them asking if they would consider doing a truck kit and offered them my truck to look at. Got this response:
"Thanks for the offer; however, given the current state of the US economy, I cannot see us doing any new product development for that market in the foreseable future, sorry"
So there you go, no kit from them. Although I'd imagine ppl are still buying stuff, even if the economy is, how do I put it, swimming down the toilet.
BTW, I never wanted to start an argument about who makes the best kit. Like 2toneblown said, "To each their own ". IMO, each manufacturer has their strengths & weaknesses - personally I like the APS kits because they are made to look as close to factory as possible, turbos are hidden underneath, all parts used are quality parts, they even cast their own exhaust manifolds if necessary. Just because I want twin turbos doesn't mean I want to lift my hood and see them.....only time I want to know they are there is when I bury the throttle. But that's just me.
Anyway, APS aren't doing one and I don't like the Gen-TT kit, even if it did fit my AWD. Looks like I'll just have to make my own. Again

Yes there is no arguement here, I just have not seen a better quality or more complete kit than the APS kits and I have a little bit of experience with their kits and a good friend has a daily driven 1000RWHP Z06 with thier kit on it and like you said when you pop the hood it looks bone stock and it drives and sounds like a bone stock z06. But everyone has different opinions on everything.

I also think performance is alive & well in many areas of the world. Some places more than others. Perhaps not like before economy tanked. Those that can,Will. Those that can't afford to,Will not. Anyway, back on track. I can definitely appreciate factory-looking, out-of-sight, out-of-mind until you hammer it.
Good luck doing your own build. Please post pics & how it works out.
I'm also a fan of having a variety of kits out there; gives people a choice & let's them decide what works for their application.

IDK about a twin turbo setup on a truck. I think it would be pretty hard to beat KBRacing, Trick and DSW's single kits. Now for a F-Body, or a car with limited space, twins would be where it's at imo. I can't wait to purchase an APS TT kit for my WS.6.

Now Holden are exporting the G8, pretty sure they have sent over 30,000 vehicles to you guys so far. In that time they have probably sold a similar number here down under.
So it would seem the US market for the APS turbo kits is at least as good as local. But APS know this, that is why they have kits for corvettes, firebirds, etc, etc. In fact they have more kits to suit overseas vehicles than Oz ones.
Shame they won't give the GM trucks a go.... Maybe if all you guys emailed them with requests to make them realize there is a market there after all....

Maybe some of you haven't seen their stuff, here's a few pics of the vette kit.

as for overall performance, most of the vette guys I know using them aren't happy, turbos aren't big enough, inlet piping isn't adequate for higher than given boost as well. One also had a major problem of his clutch line oh.....GOING ON FIRE on him even with teh heat wrap provided. He pulled the kit shortly after and is using another kit since then.
your results may vary.

Not to dog anyone but as with any forced induction, and dual forced induction as these kits, you have to be half *** knowledgable about what your doing. The fire on the clutch line you can only blame on the installer. Precision makes a billet wheeled 67mm turbo that are good for 850hp each. Aps has since redesigned the intake tubes or you can take them off and run a round filter right off the turbo. Their kit is designed to bolt right on and run reliable without modification. But as with any kits with little modification power can be had.
