any one going 9's with a 4.8 yet?

I am doing everything I can just to see 10's so trust me it isn't easy. I had a horribly loose converter holding me back (25% slip up top). had Coan custom make one, should be good there now. weight down to around 4000#. power should be 700rwhp now. soon as temps get a little lower i'll see what it does.

Forgot about this truck even though I watch all of your vids. How much boost are you having to run to hit 700rwhp?

At some point I think it would be fun to buy a high mileage beater 99-06. WT type level trim ie manual locks, windows, etc. Completely gut it and purpose build it and just blow up a bunch of 4.8s trying to run as fast as possible. If its 100% just a track toy I don't see why you couldn't get it into the 10s with only losing a ton of weight and a budget turbo build. It would be realativly easy to get it down to under 4000lbs. Strip out all interior adding a race seat delete egr AC etc. If its super light and makes let's say 650hp with slicks I would bet it could get damn close to the record.

I agree with you. Most of us like to drive our trucks on the street a lot of the time. A/C, full interior, ect is a must. But I hear you. If I didn't love driving my truck, I would love to gut the hell out of it and build a super light track queen.

Well I won't be playing in the 4.8 game any more, went to put my ls7 lifters, ls9 head gaskets, and arp head bolts in and #4 piston has way to much play in it. Been wondering were that ticking was coming from. So I picked up a ls1 long block today to take the little guys place.

I'm there now. last year I put 300 miles on mine, so yes it is street driven. just not much. I'm pretty much all track now. 10 pt cage, race seats, gutted dash. going to get weighed Saturday. should be 4000, maybe less. tested converter on street tonight. footbraked to 4000rpm (16#boost)on street tires. than of course did a bad *** burnout. lol
