There is TON's of STS type info in the archives of this forum. That was the first type turbo setup I had on my truck before I built my first front mount.

You will still need a return oil pump though, as gravity drain wont be enough even from bed height when you are acceleration and it will backup and push past the turbo seals.

Wrapping the pipes from the manifolds to the turbo in a rear mount situation is a MUST for helping spool, night and day kinda difference. I messed with this for 2 years back in the day.

I am fixing to order a Stigan gt45 from amazon. Anyone used this brand gt45 before?
Not sure how much that turbo from Amazon is, but this seems like a smokin hot deal!!! VS Racing

I payed $250 for mine from a company called stigan on amazon. They seem to make a lot of factory replacement turbos and all the reviews were pretty good on them. Ill let you know how it looks when I get it.

A turbo mounted in the bed, would be at the same height as a turbo mounted under the hood. There for I think it would drain comparably to a front mount turbo, No? I greatly appreciate the critical thinking and advice.

Never the less, If I need one, I'll get one when the time comes.

Might be close to the same height, and might drain ok when sitting still or slowing down, but when you are accelerating, it won't drain well at all. Has to fight that force and the resistance of the hose, and I'll bet it will be a loosing battle, lol.

Alright that all makes pretty good sense. But just for the sake of argument, wouldn't a front mount turbo have oil drain issues on deceleration then?

Nope. The front mount drain hose is around 18" long going straight down.
Bed mount. Same height but your hose now is gonna be 6-8 feet long.
And is not going straight down. It's in an ugly angle.

Thanks for your input trick turbo. looks like Ill be in the market for an oil pump then. I guess that also means there is no reason not to run a stand alone oil system for the turbo.

Self contained.
Would need an oil pump that pushes 20-40psi.
Oil tank with fill neck and venting
Oil cooler. Cooler needs to in air flow or have a fan blowing on it.

All that keeps adding to to ticket.
