adding boost at over 100k miles
#1
just kinda been throwing around the idea as my truck is almost paid off.. not like im gonna go out and buy a kit in a week or two though its just a thought. maybe a mp112 or an sts setup. more or less wondering what everyones thoughts are on adding boost to a motor with over 100k on the ticker..

I got 104k on the clock and threw an mp112 on there less than a year ago and she runs like a top. Get it tuned right and don't cut any corners and these engines will last past 200k... the transmission on the other hand might need some help by then.

well im actually at 118k, but i would say my truck runs great.. from what ive read i would say the mp112 would be great for me as i dont know how to tune.. whereas turbo requires more work into the tuning portion.. i know ive probably seen it on here before but i cant remmember, what kind of power can a person expect out of a mp112 on a stock 5.3?

first thing I ever turboed, a 91 S10 with 2.8 v6, 180,000 on the clock. 6psi of NON-intercooled boost. Ran GREAT! drove it for 10k miles before I sold it to my brother.

why cross our fingers? Get the AFR and timing dialed in on the tune and get a good transmission behind it and your solid.
I have 150k on mine and wouldn't hesitate to boost it. I have plans to upgrade to a Crew Cab next year or so but I may end up with some spray on it eventually.... who knows.
