Default From 6.0L TVS2300 to turbo...

The little black truck in my sig is no more. Lady pulley out in front of my son and he ate a fence vs creaming her. Truck is a total wreck. Drive train is good.

I'm starting from a clean slate and wondering should I go back with the TVS or maybe try a turbo. The motor is a forged 6.0L LQ4 with ported 243 heads. 10:1 compression ratio. 215/227 .604/.614 116 cam (but that could change). 4L80 tranny with stock converter. 3.73 rear with tru trac.

If I did venture into the dark side and go turbo, the money would be similar if I bought and sold things "right". It's my daily driver. I'd be good with +-550 at the wheels. I don't want to deal with any turbo "lag". I've heard that, if things were sized right, there won't be any. If you were in my situation....what would you do?

Picking up "new" truck in the morning. '04 Chev 2 door short box

Selling the maggie would cover a huge amount if the turbo kit.
Make you a good deal on a kit.

My son came out of the wreck without a scratch. Not really interested in a t'crew. If I stay belt driven, it will be with the TVS. I have committed on a truck. Heading to pick it up this morning. Single cab half ton trucks are pretty rare around here. Took a while to find one equipped like I wanted that wasn't stupid expensive.

There will always be a tiny bit of lag with a turbo but with the right turbo, and cam combined with the 10:1 CR ratio power will be almost instant. A bb Tc76/.96 ar and Isky 218/112 spools lightning quick and is happy at 550-600hp but will get you 650-700hp if needed.

i would go turbo. the word "lag" has such a negative, sometimes unwaranted connotation. with the size of our motors and the ability to match components it's not really a big concern. i think there should be an equally negative term describing how superchargers behave.

Yeah, I had to special-order my regular cab long bed 2500 twelve years ago. The lots were full of extended cab short bed half-tons then.
If I had the misfortunate opportunity to start over, I would like to try a turbo big enough to feed my engine.

There is... Superchargers fall on their face at high rpm... about the same as saying turbo lag is horrible... neither is really true with the right combo. And to the OP, I can put you together a great match up to maximize turbo power and minimize "lag",
