Hey guys, I don't post much here. Mainly just do a lot of reading/research to learn new things. Which I've learned A LOT over the years. I've worked on a lot of LS based stuff though (two friends have/had procharged 6.0L's) but I'm moving on to focus on my hemi ram. I'll start an actual build thread later on down the road when I get closer to being finished but for now would just like to use this thread for any questions I might have for you guys. Now for a little info on my build:
Ok, my setup is going to be very close to stock48's. Mine is just going to be a forged 370 based off of the 5.7 block with a 3.8 stroke and stock bore. It'll be a front mount setup with a t4 pt88. The heads are just going to be mildly ported and it will either have the stock truck intake or maybe the 5.7 car intake.
My question is about the two cam's I'm trying to decide on. The first one is what I thought would be good for a 370 (before really reading all about his setup) and the second one is smaller, more alike to stock48's sizing of a cam for his 370. Actually, I'll probably get more views in a new thread, but you guys tell me what you think.
First cam: 224/222 557/549 114LSA
Second cam: 216/214 560/565 114LSA

Sounds like a killer project. Don't know much about the Hemi's but I sure hope you get some solid advice and share it with the rest of us as your project unfolds.

Thanks man, and yeah I don't expect many to know much about the Hemi specifically, but this is the best place to get answers for the general questions/problems I may run in to while the build progresses. The motor is actually going to be 365" but close enough to just call a 370. lol. So in reality it's right at a 6.0L. Since I'm using the stock bore or possibly just a .010 overbore if I need to, I'll have plenty of cylinder wall thickness. There's actually more in the stock 5.7 block than the 6.1 block. For the final numbers, it will see is around 22-23lbs of boost and a 75-125 shot of nitrous. I don't have "high" expectations for the truck at this level. I'll be happy with mid 10's at 22-23lbs of boost and a 75 shot. The truck will not have any weight removed. It's fully loaded, power everything. Leather. It will still have the tailgate on. Last time I weighed it, with me in it, full tank of gas, spare, tailgate, subs, amps, 20's and a fiberglass bedcover it weighed in it 5100lbs!!!! And I'm not fat! LOL. ~185lbs.

I dont know much about turbo cams but dont most turbo cams have a wide duration. I say the you have now 218/226

I'm pretty sure it's more about the overlap with turbo cams not the duration. I've heard reverse cams with less overlap are the best for spooling/turbo setups. And honestly the smaller cam would be a breeze to tune with our natzi computers! lol. A lot of cams will "work" and work well with turbo motors it's just a custom cam will work better.
It's just like picking out the best cam for your N/A motor. All your cams worked well, but there's always one that works better for your setup.

It's hard to beat a 6.1L cam with a free-flowing exhaust turbo setup if you are looking for maximum power. Reverse split cams will give you quick boost and lots of it, but will choke the engine at higher RPMs. It all depends on what you are shooting for. eg. maximum 1/4 performance, good street manners, maximum low RPM torque, etc.

didnt pat g have a jeep that he played with? he might have insight to cams that work good in dodge engines too. shoot him a PM and see if he does custom dodge shafts.

That is true, it's very hard to beat the 6.1 cam. That is always an option as I can pick one up for $50. But if possible I'd like to get a cam specific for my setup and what I want to get the most out of it. Oh, and I would like to keep the cam on the "small" side so tuning and street manners aren't too bad, but 1/4 mile and top end are very important to me. I will give up a little streetability as not to loose my topend though. I drove an untuned comp 268 around for over a year, so being a shitty DD isn't anything new to me. lol. But if I can help it, I wouldn't mind some good street manners.

Yeah he did, I forgot about him and I had just referred a friend to him like 2-3 weeks ago! I'll send him a pm.
