4L80E will I lose power??

Default 4L80E will I lose power??

i am going to pickup my truck today and try to take it to the track for the first time on the new setup. befor the 65 went out it pulled its *** off when it went to 2nd gear. but i have heard that an 80e has a longer 1st gear in it? it beeing a bigger trans will i lose a lot of power or is this a dumbass ?...?

you feel like you loose power but it makes up for it one the other side! Mine is sluggish out of the hole but it mph's like a champ! I actually like mine more than the 60 with the yank 3000 because it will leave more predictable and less spinning!

It will "feel" different. Perform about the same. I actually picked up a couple hundreths from my best with a 60e.

You will love the 80e even if it does not show the big number on the dyno, it will do great at the track.

well if i lose 75ish i will just have to turn the boost a little more...lol

I know I lost a little fuel eco. That may be due to the 80's shorter O/D ratio vs the 60 though. Does seem like it takes more power to get down the road. I didn't do a dyno before and after. I'd be surprised if the 80 didn't dyno a little less. The upside is that the 80 has been running trouble free for thousands of miles. Even a "built" 60 is prone to failure if you put a little boost on the motor in front of it.

Ditto. I have a stock 4L80E program so I still need to play around with the shift points but it definetely "feels" slower out of the hole. I ran a stock TC in both so I'm actually getting more stall with the 4L80E.
