Gate? You'll want a big one if you are planning on low boost.

The BBC moves alot of air. Didn't make alot power back in the day. But the will take care of that.

Thanks man, that sounds like a plan. The advice I got from the guy on the forum was 76 with .96 A/R, but looks like maybe I'll be going 75 with 1.10 A/R. Trick could you shoot me a price on a turbo around that size?

From what it sounds like the way your posting it your not understanding both sides of the turbo. Your guy on the other forum sayin 76mm .96ar and most likely he means 76mm compressor which is pretty common around here and plenty for a wide range of power on a lot of builds.
The other half of that turbo is what you really need to pay attention to considering your 454 ci so you need to size the turbine wheel (exhaust) by the size of your engine pretty much. The turbo he's saying run 76 .96 ar Prolly has some where around a 64-68mm turbine wheel which is another common thing around here. Those work awesome on 4.8s, good on 5.3s and and on a 6.0 they choke out way to quick imo. So with your 454 cubic inches you need to let her breath so go big on the turbine and let the turbo run efficiently. I'm running a 76-75 and it spools very fast on my 6.0, remember Borg advertises different so a pt 76-75 will nearly be the same size as the s476 83mm. Borg goes off of inducer size. Most everyone else list the exducer. The borg 83mm has a 75mm exducer and the 87mm has a 81mm exducer and so on.... Then choose a housing to go with that wheel. All those Borg warner turbos have divided housing so a 1.10 divided will act like a .96 open so to speak. I would go with a 1.15-1.25 if you stick with t4.

Ok that's all.. any higher ups correct me if I'm wrong...

Gotcha. So what I've learned from this thread is I def need to go bigger.
T4 housing - I need around 1.15-1.25
T6 housing - I need around 1.10

I know for sure that I don't want to go too big, but I def want some room to grow. Now that I know what I'm looking for I just gotta get the blower sold and start tracking down some parts.

You guys are all awesome. Thanks for the help.

Alright guys I have a pretty good grasp on this stuff now but I found a deal on a turbo but I think it's a little big. How will this work?

TURBO IS IN GOOD SHAPE AND THERE HAVE BEEN PLENTY OF CARS MAKING GOOD POWER WITH THESE TURBOS.

SPECS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

COMPRESSOR:

.75 A/R INDUCER- 76MM EXDUCER- 102MM

TURBINE:

1.23 A/R INDUCER- 86MM EXDUCER- 98MM T6 FLANGE

You guys worrying about spooling issues with a Turbo BBC don't realize the ***** that even a stock NA 454 has off idle. Even with that cam (which is very mild, btw) you do not want a turbo that's going to spool too quick, you will never hook it up.

Are you going to stick with a TBI setup or go to a MPI? Blow through carb?

I'm gonna stay with a bored tbi for while. I will eventually go mpfi and take the injector pod off.

I hear ya, TBI can do the job. Still better than a carb, IMO.
