i was talking about the duramax

91mm on a 4.8 is going to be laggy. Ive seen alot of guys doing s480's on 4.8 but even then they are going to be a bit laggy, id say a s475 would get the job done

what fuel do you plan on running? If E85 id go bigger than 75lb, if on gas then that should get you pretty far

Unfortunately up here in Canada, finding E85 is like finding grass in the winter eh. It'll be running 91, 94, or possibly 100 Leaded Avgas since I have some connections for Avgas. I am wondering about the S475 too, saw some guys running those with really great results. 75lb was what Hot Rod turned that 1200 HP on, so I am hoping that since we are not going that boost crazy then 75 should keep us covered. As far as duramax's go, I know what you mean. My brothers duramax sled pulling truck puts down around 530 WHP, and most guys do around here with intake, exhaust and a good tune. I think the difference that none of these Diesel Tools around here understand is that its a lot easier to make 4500# go 10s then it is to make 7500+# trucks do the same. I just hope we get the opportunity to spank some duramax's come this summer, since we have some wild dreamers around here who think there stock tuned duramax's will pull off 11s

If I were to do this all over again I would have bought a 4wd 1500 and put a 6.0 in it and twin turbo it. My diesel run's 10.50's @ 134+ and I don't want to think of the $$ I have in it. I have a budget built engine and used the most stock parts I could with nitrous to get me where I wanted. Hell, my damn connecting rods were 2400$.... the prices are retarded, Id rather go fast in something that's half the cost.

Youd be surprised on how many of the "oh ahh" parts you don't need to go fast, but then again, Im not afraid of the bottle and my engine has seen about 25 bottles.

I don't have many fancy parts are trap well over 130mph, so it is possible, but starting off with a crew cab is only hurting your times.

loose some weight and 600rwhp will get 10's. I run mid 11's on 14#. hopefully see 10's next week at track on 16#. if all you want is fast and cheap than do: ebay turbo gt45 18# boost, cam, th400 mvb, 3500 converter, 93 octane and meth, stock 3.42 gears w/lsd.

Check out my set up. Not a doubt in my mind it is a mid 10 second set up. You will definitely want to run a meth kit and an innercooler. I see no reason to go bigger than a S475 or S476 turbo on these little 4.8L if you want to run it on the street often enough. You could probably run FIC 1000 injectors and some meth to hit your goals. Shouldn't be too hard to pull on a duramax depending on what is done to it.

We are already running into that with his Pull Truck lol, awesome until you want to take it anywhere over 600. We're talking a 10k jump in just engine parts to get above that in a DMAX...

Meanwhile in LS world haha, guys are making 1,000HP with stock bottom ends, silly duramax guys. But on a serious note, I like the idea of the eBay turbo set up I saw posted. I have spent a lot of time looking at the CX Racing intercooler turbo kit. For $1,500, the intercooler should stand up, and it will bolt right up. Crank the **** out of the turbo until it implodes and then invest in a quality charger and bolt it onto the same piping. Would be something like this kit: TRB-KIT-CAMARO-LS1-IC

Any thoughts on that kit, with a better turbo down the road?

Set Up would be: 4.8L, 220 Comp Cam, Pushrods, Springs, CX Racing Kit, Track Bars, Different Shocks, Drag Radials, and some Water Meth. Eventually down the road I would think FAST LSX-RT and probably a 100-150 Shot. But for now, without the intake or the nitrous, I am thinking maybe 500+ WHP? Maybe? Let me know what you think??
