4.8L 80mm Single Dirty Grandpa Truck Build
#322
so.... posted this question on HP tuners forum too.
I was planning on segment swapping with the new Beta 2.25, but I can't find a tune with the same OS (12202088 - GM Firebird/Camaro (V8) 2001) that I can swap segments with.
Instead of screwing around with swapping segments, I'm thinking I just bite the bullet and license another OS. I have a spare 2 credits and I am willing to just buy the extra 2 credits to get the 3 bar again and have 4l80.
I'm looking at using file 1299080621 GMC Sierra (V8) 2000 (4l80) file of the tune repository. in the OS option, it shows 3 Bar Map "Not applied" so it appears that OS can license for 3 bar option. I would assume that if it wasn't able to license it would show "Not available".
Before I license this thing, I need to know if my ECM can take that tune. I'd hate to license and figure out for some reason my ECM won't take it.
I've uploaded my current tune (2001 Silverado 4.8L 3 Bar 60lb injectors 01092015) and the 1299080621 GMC Sierra (V8) 2000 tune in case anyone would like to take a peek.
Thanks in advance!
Also, if anyone is interested in using my tune, go for it. It is tuned for 12 psi. Runs perfect under all driving conditions. Also great in 110 degree weather in traffic.

What OS do you have in your truck/car right now? That 12212156 OS does have a 4L80e (from the hp tuners repository), so if that's your base tune, you shouldn't have to do a segment swap. I would assume that you have to do the wiring to get it to work.
If you're using a different existing tune it'll need to have the same OS (12212156). You can find it by opening up VCM editor -> Calibration details. the OS is the "VCM OS ID: .........."
I licensed the 1299080621 GMC Sierra 2000 (OS 1261005) tune with 3 Bar map. Comes with a 4L80E, so I shouldn't have to do the segment swap. I'll know if it works by next weekend hopefully.
If you have applied a custom OS to your existing tune, you won't be able to do a segment swap or at least you won't be able to using the VCM 2.25 Beta MSI.
Good news is that if you download the latest 2.24 VCM MSI, when you license, they don't charge you an extra 2 credits to apply a custom OS (traditionally 2 for base tune and 2 for custom OS = 4 credits). You license the tune and then select the OS you want to use. Pretty awesome. I was thinking I'd have to cough up $100 to license a new tune (had 2 credits sitting around) and I am pleasantly surprise.
Driveshaft will be here by Wednesday and I have a few more things to button up.
Couple useful links from HP Tuners forum:

I posted up a thread to get some feedback on all of this. Nothing so far, but I'm posting up my findings there too.

Blowers are cool. Usually more straight forward, easy to tune and a little more reliable.

Atp out of CA sells the single flange and clamp. The sets I have come from treadstone or ace stainless. Ace has sets very cheap and they are stainless with decent clamps. They also are male and female for good fitment and sealing. Always keep them clamped to the mating flange when welding. They warp lIke a **** if you don't.
