The driveshaft is in..... but my dumb *** forgot to put the washer on the pinion.... oh well. Good news it fits.

If any of you guys use that Spicer pinion yoke I posted and you're over the year 2000, you'll need a pre-2000 pinion seal.

So I need to put the washer back on, adjust my rear end angle (not liking it where it is), finish vacuum lines, put everything back together, fill up the trans and put a fresh tune in. Getting close!

Welp... finished it up. Went and beat the **** out of it. The 80 took it. I was getting on the freeway to see how 80 mph would be..... blew something to where it was spewing trans fluid. Coming from around the converter I think. We put in a new seal and it didn't leak at all for the first 30 min of beat down. Maybe it let go? Who knows. Sitting on the side of the road right now waiting for my buddy.

So... I'm not mad. Actually super excited I got to drve and do burnours. Yawwwwww!

Thanks for the offer. Sitting in my driveway and not driving so it'll stay where it's at lol. Probably be another couple weeks before I get to it. Travel and what not keeping me busy.

I might dump some cheap trans fluid in this week and see exactly where it's coming from. The whole underside of the truck was douched. Cleaned it last night, so hopefully it all dried up.

Alright..... took the trans out. Tp my suprise it only took 2.5 hours by myself.

Either way. The seal popped out..... the rubber ribs on the inside were pretty much gone, but the seal looked good. I'm sure there was some wear due to the fact I emptied the trans on the road. The pump bushing is fine. Still in tge right spot. Looks worn but not crazy. I'll probably replace fir good measure.

Anyhow, I was planning on putting in a new pump bushing and seal and calling it a day until..... I spun the input shaft and heard squeaking.

I pulled the pump and the squeaking comes from the overrun clutches/hub and od planetary. Only squeaks when the planetary is all the way in and spinning counter clockwise (sprag keeps it from going clockwise). I put fluid in the clutches and it still squeaks. Any ideas?

I really don't have the funds for a rebuild that I want to do Right now. I'd love to just slap it together and let it eat slowly. Few months down the road pull it and rebuild or buy another and rebuild on the side.

On the plus side it appears this thing has been rebuilt recently. first set of clutches still had the mfg printing on them and the steels look good.

I'll post some pics up tomorrow.

The first set are the OD clutches, these dont really take much abuse (unless you shift into OD at full power which is like 150mph). The set that takes the most beating is the intermediate clutches, which unfortunately are the last set to come out.

Before the seal popped out the trans was solid. No shifting issues or gear slip. The transgo hd2 kit is pretty cool. Solid shifts. Not too harsh.

I started it a couple times dry in neutral while I was being redneck towed home for power breaks and another time when we got here to see if it had any gear left to pull into the driveway. Idling for a few seconds it sounded fine. No noise or anytging. Also no metal in the pan.

Random question about the manifolds you built, what size v-bands did you use for the crossover and gate? You used 1.5 and 2" sch. 10 for everything correct?

Wanting to build something similar and wanting to know what v-bands fit the pipe decent since sch. Pipe sizes are a little different.

Since we are on the subject of the manifolds, I'm interested in how you tig'd them. I have been doing a lot of research on TIG machines and would like to get one to start learning.

What kind of welder do you use? What size and type tungsten were used on the manifolds and what size filler rod? I've seen some guys use as small as .035 filler when doing thin wall tubing so I'm just wondering what you used. Your welds are pure sex so I thought I ask you. Thanks bud!
