Default 4.8 turbo set up

This is my first thread to help me out a little, I currently have a 2006 Chevy Silverado RCLB 4.8 and I was wondering if I should do a swap to a 6.0 if I wanna turbo my truck. I'm looking for 400-450 rwhp and was wondering if I'd be able to get that out of my 4.8 or if I would have to swap a 6.0 in. Im on a budget so please help me out with the best route. Also what would you guys recommend for turbos? Thank you for your help

That 4.8 could make 600-700 easy with a good enough turbo/motor setup.

So keep the 4.8, slap a turbo kit on it and make an easy 400-500 horsepower.

Agreed. Keep the 4.8 and do a good turbo. Maybe a small turbo cam and stall if you have the budget for it. 60lb or 80lb injectors and a fuel pump. Done. Easy power.

Where do you recommend I get a turbo system from? And would I have to upgrade any internals on the 4.8 to withstand the power im looking for?

Your budget will come into play there.

On3 turbo kit is $2,000, plus the pump, injectors, other small odds and ends and you are up around $3,000+. KB racing/trickflow kits will be $3,500+ just for the kit.

And don't forget about the transmission, it might last a little while behind 400-500 whp but I'd say it will die sooner than you think.

Stock internals will handle that power, upgrade the valve springs would be a good idea though.

Do you think a 4l80e will hold up to 400-450 rwhp? And with the On3 turbo kit will 400-450 rwhp be achievable? Because that is my goal
Thanks for all your help

Yes and yes.

A stock 80e with a shift kit will handle 400-500hp just fine.

The on3 kit with the cheapest turbo they make should support like 500hp, I think there website or the ebay ads they have say how much hp the turbo is good for.

Im thinking I'm just gonna go with the On3 kit, it fits my budget perfectly and is very intriguing. Any comments on the On3 kit?
