On 3 turbo kit, alternative/ interchange turbo?
#13
Launching!
I did an on3 kit on my truck. 1) the manifold they provide isn’t the best, pain in the *** for doing plugs, no room for wires so I had to make my own. 2) I had to tig weld the turbo flange as the weld was very poor to start 3) my flex pipe blew out after 500 miles at 7 psi 4) if you run a lift you have to modify the crossover pipe 5) the downpipe doesn’t fit the truck and you have to cut and tig weld it. 6) the intercooler doesn’t fit well, I didn’t use two pipes 7) you have to get your own turbo return line as runner line gets hot and brittle quickly 9) the coolant bypass tubing provided doesn’t fit well (I only used one) 10) BOV hangs up and has to be massaged in order to fit properly 11) if you retain maf you have to get a new housing (eBay) 12) wrap the manifold or else you will literally melt any plastic on the engine bay, I recommend titanium wrap, and get a turbo blanket. 12) the wastegate they provide is 44mm and I had boost creep until I ported the piping. After all of my modifications my set up runs really strong even gave the guys at new era performance a scare when they got into it on the freeway and the tires broke loose (37” Toto MT). If I didn’t get such a great deal on the kit I was liking the trick kits, Much more R and D and thought went into those and they are all over this forum to provide help (unlike others).
