Default 3" or 4" core

Is it worth getting a 4" core intercooler? Or 3" sufficient. Oh I might have to mount if flat with dam or scoop.

A 3'' core should be fine. If you get up over 600RWHP I would go with a 4'' core.

Keep in mind that as core thickness increases, the second half of the core only does 1/4 the work. Yes, adding thickness to the core will improve efficiency up to a point, but the gains become less and less. Also, increasing core thickness is directly related to the difficulty of getting the ambient air to pass through the core. Basically then, the drag coefficient of the core goes up as thickness increases, making your intercooler less and less efficient. I'd much rather take a wider and taller 3" core design than a smaller 4" core design that fits nicer between your frame rails. If a 3" core becomes inadequate, re-think it's design. Add an air-duct of some sort to channel and force air through before going to a 4" core.
