Default 228/232 cam too big?

I was thinking about running a 228/232 cam on my 5.3 Silverado ECSB Z71 with a Circle D 3600 stall. But it will HAVE to run on a NA setup until I can afford my Precision 7675 CEA

Think a cam this large will still be tame enough for a daily driver? Anyone have any experience with larger cams on their daily drivers?

In a 5.3 that's really big. The LSA and advance will effect how it drives so it's hard to tell you exactly... But it's more cam than I'd ever run in a 5.3 I can tell you that.

It's all kinda relative. That cam in a single cab 2wd 5.3 with a decent stall will be completely different than in your ecsb z71. That cam is too big for a daily 5.3 in my opinion. Seems more at home in a max effort build. The stall will help you out yes. Can it be a daily driver yes with a good tune but I wouldn't run it.

Trust me it will run I have it also in a ecsb and I have raced trucks with 6.0 and I gotten them pretty bad they say surprised when I tell them its a 5.3 with cam ...im just waiting to add a pair of ported /milled heads to find out what it does .because I do recommend upgrading to a 90mm intake

Well, what I failed to mention in my original post is that this is basically going to be a max effort "street" build. I didn't mention any specifics because it's all in my head atm. But the cam shaft is one of the first steps in my build after I allow the engine to breathe a bit with CAI, LT Headers/ORY, Exhaust w/ E-Cutout. After I get that I will probably add the cam and stall. It's going to be a pretty beefy build that will eventually include a 76mm Precision turbo. And I just happen to be dumb enough to daily drive it
IF need be, there are other vehicles I can use if I don't feel like driving my death trap to work.

Also, I was thinking about picking up an inTune by DiabloSport rather early into this build since I won't be buying everything in bulk I figured it would make sense to have a way to tune? What do you guys think about that idea? Then when I'm ready for a serious dyno tune I'll just take it over to the guys from the TV show Street Outlaws. Judging by the cars on the show they seem to know what they're doing.

Yeah I know, but I wanted to save all that for my official build thread haha.
I was just kinda stumped when it came to a cam selection cause I knew I would be wanting to get that pretty early on

If you have a good end goal and know the turbo set up and power you will want (sounds like you do) then I think your best bet will be to get a coustom spec cam for that as most will do fine N/A also. It's cheap to have someone like pat g spec you a cam, and the can will cost the same as an off the shelf one. That would save you from changing cams later down the road. Which a cam swap is easy on these engines. That's money you could use elsewhere instead of another cam.
