so I've read, yes

Interestingly I compared a whipple oem tune from a while back to one from april of this year and there are a bunch of knock related changes....they are apparently still tweaking stuff....more timing w/o knock (or false knock) = more ponies....!!

Any extra noises can cause false knock possibly?

sidebar: if the bottom of the manifold was shallower, there would not be much room for air to exit the under blower I/C and airflow would be restricted.

I put a 3.3L whipple on my 03 Z06 and fabricated an under blower I/C. At the time, the whipple many was shallower and the IC to manifold clearance was a tough puzzle to solve.

so therefore one reason that the factory insulator has to get the deep six

KB & gonzo: any problems with NOT being able to use the OEM foam/rubber insulator under the whipple manifold??

thx
Sorry for slow response. They dont say nothing about that foam in the instructions that I could find, seemed to me no way was it going to fit.So I left it out.

How far along are you?

phase 1 all installed. wideband is defective, so waiting on a new one and in the process of tuning

phase 2 cam, springs, injectors, sc pulley to follow.

Do you know how much room you have remaining with the injectors you have now?

Comp cams suggested this one for me
Keeps afm
PN 624-512-13
.572/.529 lift... 214/226 duration... 116 lsa
(Dont know about fuel lobe)

Vs LT4 cam
.492/.551 lift... 189/223 duration... 120 lsa
(Somebody here said it has larger fuel lobe)

Is the lt4 cam better for the blower on a 5.3?
Anything needed on valve train other than springs and rods?

My opinion is the lt4 cam is spec'd for a blower and the cam you are referencing is going to be bigger but I've always thought the min lsa on a blower cam should be 117 to avoid bleed off of boost. Also I wanted a sleeper cam that wasn't to rowdy at idle since it's my daily driver.

I should mention I have a 1900 maggie (couldnt pass up the price...) for my 5.3 2016. I have headers on the way (arh)
And im hunting for the right cam. Also the comp cam costs almost $500 (just the cam and phase limiter). Only aftermarket cam I can find that i dont have to do a d.o.d. delete with.

Love your setup by the way.

Whats your boost psi?
