2011 2500hd question
#12
I understand the d-max point and it is well taken, but no one has the 2011 version with UREA. If it did not use urea with it it would be a done deal and I would have ordered a d-max. I have spoke with a couple of guys that have a 2011 d-max and they are having issues with the urea tank and calibrations.
I know many people towing either gas or diesel, pick a brand of truck, and still get 10-12 on hill towing. I accept diesel will pull better and might go faster, but why do I need to go above 70mpg towing over 50ft long (truck and trailer)?
As for warranty, messing with a diesel is sought at the dealerships for denial of warranty. I just sold a 1998 3.42 2wd 350 truck pulling the same camper through the hills.Iit was tough on the truck, but it is a old design light 1/2 at best. The motor did ok and I still got 9mpg. That truck I had for 11 years and I pulled my 24' car hauler allover the place when I was racing. I knew it as a little much for the 1500, but still did ok.
I'm not even sure I will have an issue pulling, I just wanted to get some early opinions and ask questions and do research. I appreciate the TVS idea. I will contact Maggy and asked them on ideas.
Before I pulled the trigger on the the 2500 I was looking at blue oval as well, they acknowledge diesel light truck, which these pick-ups are, will be harder and harder to overcome gov't emissions and long term maintenance costs and encouraging GAS trucks for larger fleets. Now I know D-max is a better setup than Ford's 3rd try at a diesel in the last decade, but I found that interesting none the less.
