14 Sierra Procharger prep questions
#1
I have a few questions for anyone with a 2014+ DI procharged truck. I'm prepping my truck for a D1SC and going over prochargers install instructions. I'm wondering about the plugs and fueling.
Procharger recommends moving to a colder plug, cool, but they don't say anything about the gap. I know the recommended plugs ( NGK 6510 ) come pregapped but when I measured to see what they were at, they are set at .42. Seems pretty large. I'm worried about blowout. Also would like to install them before the procharger goes in, any downside driving with them with no procharger?
Second, I've read two cases where these trucks are using stock injectors running 480whp. My tuner is saying I'll prob need to upgrade to C7 LT1 injectors. He said you can run the injector wide open but it's not a good idea. He believes the stock truck (5.3) injectors are only good to 450whp. I need some opinions on this one, dont wanna spend $500 if I dont have to..
Any input is welcome

I've heard similar that they are close to maxed at 7-8 lbs. IDK if the 6.2 injectors are bigger but they get a bit over 500 with the Whipple. Probably would be a good idea to do the ZO6 injectors if you're going to run much more boost than stock.
Oh also there is a thread here about gap. Consensus seems to be .028 iirc. I had set mine at .033 before the thread. Runs fine with low boost. Colder plug should be fine for the short term.

Just got off the phone with Nate at Procharger. For the 2014 DI trucks he recommended a .32-.35 gap on the NGK6510 plugs. I also asked about gapping the iridium plugs, as I've read you can't gap the iridiums. He said to take care to not over gap them as to where you will have to open them back up and have to pry on the electrode. Also said they would be fine to install them prior to installing the charger with no negative effects.
Ted-I know the 6.2 trucks are bigger but don't know by how much. I believe the 5.3 has 96lb injectors. I need to figure out the part number or where I can get a set of C7 injectors, I believe those are 121lb.

Update, I now know the truck/vette injectors are as follows 5.3-96lb 6.2-118lb, corvette LT1-121lb and the Z06-140lb. I went ahead and ordered the LT4 Z06 injectors P/N: 12668655. Now I just have to figure out how to remove them without special tools. Hope this helps someone.

Update on the Injectors. The only special tool I ended up needing is a fuel line disconnect tool. To remove the fuel rail on the driver side bank I had to remove the low pressure fuel line that attaches to the HPFP, as it runs above the fuel rail and will not allow the rail to come out with the injectors. Once the line was removed, and all the other lines disconnected, I hit the bases of the injectors with penetrating fluid and let them sit for a few. The rail and injectors will all come out as one piece, just a pain to get them out of the head.
Once I got the rail and injector assembly out of the truck I just used two flat bladed screwdrivers to remove the clips holding the injectors in place. Once they were removed, you can simply pull out the injector from the rail, then pop the new ones in.
****I have not found any install instructions specifically for these trucks, I am still looking for torques for the 4 (per side) fuel rail bolts, the 10 intake manifold bolts, and the 4 TB to intake manifold bolts, if anybody can get them I will greatly appreciate it. ****
