Alright gents, I had the pro charger installed recently and just had a oil ring wash in cylinder #1 so I'm going in and replacing all pistons and rings....I'm considering a mild cam but this is a daily driver and I don't want to spend too much $$ get'n her back on the road but need some advice on what I should do for pistons & rods as well as a new tune. I'm not gonna be racing her but want a little beef....

 

Factory rods will support 800+ whp no problem so you don't need those, pistons I can't help you there on what you could use. Factory pistons would work fine aswell if you wanted them too.

 

Thx bro for that info, from what I understand with the stock rods and pistons they should be fine even with a little more cam. (i.e. rv)

 

Gap the rings around .028.

 

How much boost were you running? What plugs? What fuel?

A cam will certainly help. Frankly it will actually make it easier on the motor... stock cams with boost have incredibly high cylinder pressure down low. A procharger is better fo that where boost is low, but its still a concern when tuning.

 

I prefer my cylinder pressure high.

Sorry, I meant to mention Ive got TR6 plugs, bout 8 lbs boost and burnin 93 octane.......
So with that am I right in saying I should be good going with the stock pistons and rods and then a little bigger cam?

 

at 8 PSI I would run stock stuff all day long yes.

You need to make sure your tune is in the right ball park and you'll never have an issue.
