Default 02-04 LS6 cam in a 5.3 with TVS1900

I know most guys recommend the GT2-3 for a blower but being as I have a zo6 cam laying around I was curious as to how this would perform with a TVS. I have heard these things are dynamite with a turbo and figured it would be a good time to do some motor upgrades (timing chain, pump, springs, push rods)

tia

Specs:
2002+ LS6 cam
204/218 int/exh @ 0.05" duration
0.551" / 0.547" int/exh lift
117 LSA

It wouldnt be my first choice but it would work just fine. Considering you already have it, run it. Depends on what you want out of it Bill. What are your goals?

Well my 5.3 has 95k miles on it. I was thinking it might be a good time to do all the upgrades I was saying and while the timing chain cover was off throw in a tiny cam just cause I have it. If the LS6 cam won't make for good gains I probably won't even bother with a cam for awhile.

Anything I could do over 400/400 is icing on the cake for me... but it will be through stock manifolds and stock Y so don't even know if that goal is realistic. I am gonna get a 90mm Edelbrock throttle body but other than that I wanna stick with the supplied injectors.. not sure if they will even be sufficient enough for the LS6 cam.

I imagine the supplied inj are at a min 44lb so they should be fine on a 5.3. Why was i thinking you had a 6.0? I would run the z06 cam over stock, it will help. I see no reason you wont hit 400/400 with stock manifolds etc. 7psi may get you there with the z06 cam.

I did have a 6 liter pullout I picked up but traded it for a built 10 bolt because it needed honed and I didn't feel like getting in to that.

Thats what I figured, the LS6 cam should be better than a stock 5.3 cam either way.

Im running a LS2 cam, and when it was N/A, it was a very big improvment over stock on the big end. 50 to 80mph it was a totally different truck. You will surely see better numbers with the LS6 cam over the stocker. Even if the kit supplies you with 42lb injectors, that should be plenty for what you want to make. Skipperdaddy made 522rwhp on a much larger cam, but with the 42lb injectors that came with his kit.

Run the z06 cam, ls6 springs. Valvetrain will be quiet and reliable and that cam will pull harder from midrange and up. Plan for tranny upgrades...

My thoughts exactly Pat on the LS6 springs and cam... valvetrain will be nice and quiet and stock manifolds will drown out any unwanted engine noise

I am definitely gonna get in touch with Mark and have him go through my 60E (maybe this winter, the TVS set me back a little lol)
