Ya I don't miss the sound of dual valve springs through longtubes and no cats lol.
I wanna keep this one as quiet and stock as possible (minus the TVS of course lol)
For awhile anyways

Change your lifters while its apart too Bill, Not gonna hurt to put some fresh LS7 lifters in.
Sometimes you get away with out changing them but the higher the mileage the more i would change them.
Dont forget getting the new updated intake gaskets.
Also get some of the good GM sealent for when you reassemble your timing cover ( a dab on each corner of the oil pan).

Ha ha, definately not needed for what you want! But it sure does sound nice.
I just put a LS6 cam in my 4.8, replacing the LS1 cam I had, and I say you should do it, over the stock ~.460 lift, the 02+ Cam has .551/.547, that's a pretty good increase, not even including the extra duration....

I compared the ls6 cam verses the gt2-3 cam in the desk top dyno with a boosted 5.3. The z06 was superior until 5500 rpm the the gt2-3 passed it by 3 HP. Then they both died off at 6k plus. The low end and mid range looked a bit better with the ls6.
I know it is just a computer program and it is only as good as the info put in it. I took my time and entered the valve events correctly. The specs on the cams are really pretty close. One thing I didn't take into it was the ramp rates for the valves but they are both pretty tame came so I left them the same.
So take it for what it is. I am going with the z06 cam. The extra cost isn't worth a few HP up top and a little less grunt down low.
