Dyno Numbers for LQ9
#1
I got my truck dynoed at this place called Motion Dynamics last week, and was pretty disappointed with the numbers. I made 257 hp and 309 tq. They said they could tune it with HPtuners, so I gave it to them last week and picked it up today. The best they could do was 267 hp and 317 tq. They had the truck for almost a week and I told them to tune it for premium gas. I can't tell you how frustrated I am with all of this. Don't you think an LQ9 with a good intake, exhaust, longtubes and tuning should be making more power than this? I know I'm going through the 4L80E, but this engine is rated at 345hp 385tq from the factory, plus I have most of the bolt-ons except for electric fans. What gives?

I have never taken my truck to the track. It would be nice to see what it would run, but I don't think It would be that good considering my truck wieghs over 6000 pounds, combined with the 3.73's, 285's, and no stall, but you never know. When I picked the truck up today I came home in the heat and heavy traffic, so earlier around 9 or so I went out when it had cooled down considerably and with much less traffic. The truck definately has more midrange punch, and I was able to chirp the tires on the 1st to second shift a few times. The truck has never done that before, so I guess thats something. Could also be due to the fact that my tranny shifts from 1st to 2nd hard enough to snap someones neck. As for dyno numbers, its not the torque that I'm real irritated about, its the horsepower. I just figured the big bad 6.0 would be getting at least 280 to the wheels.

take into consideration this is a higher compression LQ9, most I've seen require 91+octane fuel to run at the full potential with the stock tune, and around here the guys dont wanna run the high octane so they dont see as much as an increase with a tune...BTW my heads/cam nearly full bolt on LQ9/4l65-e pulled 407rwhp/395ftlb on a mustang dyno a few months ago
