Yes, I stand corrected about the weight of the duallie. I spoke to the guy today at work and he said his 3500 series truck weighs about 7,300. He also added that his gas mileage is a little better than I stated. He has a 6-speed with 3.73 gears and the engine is turbocharged with performance tuning. Apparently he keeps the engine in it's torque zone between 1300 and 2000 for the best mileage.

I'm far from being a truck expert, so I have to take his numbers as being factual.

As for me and my quest for better mileage, well I'm going to continue shopping around. I favor the Magnacharger for low end torque. I'll also investigate the overdrive transmissions for automatics.

 

Your Buddy is WAY off... I know guys that can only see 20-22 in 03-04-05 Dodge Duallys with Edge Boxes and Pro Lock transmissions.. I am The Texas Dealer for Pro Lock converters and I keep up with Results and talk with All of my customers about their setups.. I myself have Pulled my own 48 foot trailer 18,000 lbs with a 05 6 speed and didnt see anything Close to 15mpg... So again i call BS .... Turbos make the Big power on Deisel trucks... I would bet your buddy is getting much closer to 11-12 MAYBE 14 on the best day of that trucks life with 1000000 Hours of tuning with 23,000 lbs on the back .... But I say No way !
