Default transfercase fluid

what kind of fluid goes in a 76 high boy transfer case and granny 4spd? it had a yellow baby poo color to it. need to know what to replace it with.

I would think regular gear oil would be fine, something thats at least 75w

thats what i thought but he said it was yellow and wants to figure out why its yellow. if it a type or brand thing. the stuf in the trans and t-case were both yellow i guess.
