when do you guys consider a car/truck a racecar/truck ?

seems like everybody doesnt want to admit when they have an actual racecar, its kinda funny to me really. why is there so much shame on admitting you have a racecar that is street legal and not a street car ? seems like as long as its still "street legal" some people think its still a street car , even thou there isnt a single piece of interior , car is tubbed , has full cage, racing shifters , lexan glass etc...
so imo this is what a racecar/truck is to me , who would agree or whats your opinion on when a vehicle is no longer a street car and considered a racecar.
so just because you have a cage doesn't mean its a race car I can agree on this BUT when it is combined with more then 2 of these IMO I would consider it to be a race car - being tubbed ,gutted ,sheet metaled up, basically not a single piece of original interior, none of the original gauges ,race seats /5 point harnesses , drag race shifter , drag racing electronics , lexan glass, wheelie bars ,fuel shut off switch, full slicks (non dot) I think its safe to say you have a race car IMO what do you guys think?

Once it becomes impractical, which is in ones opinion. If you can't drive it to the race track or long distances or everyday with out issues it is not a street car. Once you start removing interior and ad a full full roll cage in it, it is not a street car.

Regardless of the impracticality or how fast it is, people downplay their own vehicles because they want to lure people into a race they know they can win. I've noticed this a lot, this 'self ego boosting' tactic that people tend to use... 'Cam only' is turbo+n2o, etc...seen it hundreds of times.

If it is not a pain in the *** to drive it is a street car. Meaning, If...
*it can be driven to work more than 3 days a week if you choose
*it can hold enough gas to make it ~100 miles
*it can have a title and plates
*it can be driven by a gear head with out flipping more than 10 switches, hooking up the laptop, etc.
*it doesn't over heat when driving it around town. Example: it can be a part of true street
These are my main ones. There are always exceptions to the rules though.

Ah, this discussion has been going on since the beginning of racing...
Personally I call it a race car if it is trailed...dont care if it *can* be driven on the street or not. Fact is its not, and you obviously prepared for that fact by having a tow truck and trailer, so...

I call a truck or car on a trailer a smart move if you are a ways from home. Example I live 6 hours from bowling green KY but I plan on making LSFest next year. It would be dumb for me to drive my "race" truck 6 hours, break and not have a way to get it or me home. Just my .02
