Default Went out again, no 13's yet.

Well, I went to Lapeer Dragstrip and got a new best time. I still have more room to go yet since I only got to make one pass on the high octane table from what I can tell. I made 4 passes, the first was the only pass the cold track hooked for me. That was a 1.983 60' and a 14.335. On the second pass I tried to preload to 1200 which is where the truck usually launches the hardest due to the converter not being quite enough stall for the small 5.3L, and pulled a 1.999 spinning to a 14.362@93.07. The third pass I raced an 03' Silverado SS and finally broke the laptop out. I raised the shift points from 6000/5800 to 6200/6000 and finally logged the run. That run I went 2.052 60' spinning a little and 14.416@93.65. The higher shift points I think slowed me down some. With the higher shift extension from the converter the slightly lower shift points of 6000/5800 seem to work better. It was a good thing I loged since it showed me that my IAT sensor wasn't working and was causing me to run on the low octane table. I wiggled the wires going to the sensor and it magicly began working. Unfortunatly I got in line and kept the truck running the whole time with the fans on because the line kept moving quickly and I wasn't going to be able to push it. This put alot of heat around the airbox putting the IAT's to well over 70 and bringing my timing to about 2 degrees less than what I can run in the less than 50 degree air that we were in. That pass netted me the hardest spinning launch (off idle) of about 5 feet and a 1.996 60' to a 14.288@95.24. I feel that there is still another .2 at least in the setup the truck currently has. Unfortunatly all of my local tracks are closed so I won't be able to see 13's with the current combo. I should have the cam in before the tracks open next year. I really wanted to hit 13's in a mostly stock truck which mine is. This was also on the 20's in full street weight and trim. That's right, no drag radials and no short tire either.

I really like that sig man. I upped the bar for you. Hopefully your truck gets into the 13's with the new parts. You're certainly on a good start.

I've been happy with the performance of the truck so far. I pretty sure on that last pass that if I'd had the underhood temps lower, the extra 2 degrees of timing would have gotten me a 14.0 or so. Looking at my slips that's the best the truck has ran from the last 1/8 on out. They put VHT down at the beginning, but I would have liked it put down one more time. I feel that with a 1200rpm or so launch and hooking up like the first pass I could have also gotten the 60' time down to a lower 1.9 and cut off some time with that too. With the same air or cooler, a little better track prep, and full cooldown I think I could have pulled off a 13.9. I would like to try going there with the E85 in there again. I played with that a few times and found that I can get about 4 degrees more timing with straight E85 in the tank and the pcm actually figuring out how much alcahol is in the tank.

Damn good times Zippy. Wish I knew something about tuning because w/ my current set-up I think she would run a 13.9 with some tweaking. May have to cheat when the track opens in the spring and run some 16's on her.

I'm certainly anxious to see what your truck is going to do with the new stall and cam. I'm probably going about some things an odd way with doing the cam before headers, intake, underdrive pulley, etc. I'd like to get around a 13.6 or so with the cam and work my way down from there.
