Default weight distribution

1997 chevy truck trying to get ideas on what is reasonable front/rear weight ratio

heres the truck and heres what it weighed today with me sitting in it (240 lbs). i already have a fuel cell in the rear but i still have to run the lines so the stock tank is still in the middle of the truck. also plan on moving the battery to the bed as well when i run the fuel lines. any other ideas?

edit:ABS an A/C are also deleted, power steering is going to stay

That is the exact split mine currently has. 60% on front and 40% on the rear.

It's just something us truck guys have to deal with. You can make it work though.

any suggestions?

battery and fuel cell in the back will happen next.

also gonna remount the rear shocks vertically in the rear, and maybe get some 10/90 shocks for the front. and might tighten up the caltracs some as well.

You don't want his recommendations unless you are a doctor or Lawyer! He will have you take it to mad man's shop and then it will hook for sure!

Honestly you shouldn't have any problems hooking especially on a Bias tire. If you want to run radials you will need to dial it in a little more but caltracs alone should net you some good 60 ft. times if you have the power.

Front sway bar can come out, hollowing out the dash some is easy, some supports and mounts for the bumper, I wouldn't condone Swiss cheesing the frame but some body parts like inside of door panels and fenders can have material removed.

Getting the shocks relocated in the back will help for sure. To keep cost down, I'd suggest some single adj QA1's. I went 1.50's with those and no caltracs at 4500 lbs. Took me 3 trips to the track (about 12 passes) to figure out where they wanted to be.

Moving the fuel and battery to the back will help a bunch, and will probably put you at better than 60/40.

I also moved my trans cooler to the very back of the truck. It's not much but ounces add up to pounds. Also, hang the fuel pumps back there as well. Get as much stuff as you can behind the rear axle.

What is you engine/converter/trans/gear combo? You don't have to take your stuff to The Madman, but it doesn't hurt. lol.

i thought about moving the tranny cooler to the bed as well just for simplicity sake and i hate the black cooler in my grill haha.

engine is a AES 390 with an F1-a at around 12-14 lbs, running a stock 4l80e and a ford 9" with 3.50 gears on 28" M&H drag radials.

i dont want to go that extreme yet haha, i have thought about making a quick disconnect for the sway bar, but i'm not sure how much that will affect the turning on the street, since its a 95% street truck.

0% front sway bar feels like 100% sway bar 90% of the time. You would never notice unless you swap lanes quickly at 100+ mph.
