Thanks man!

I usually launch in 4-hi, then I found my trap speeds increased just a fraction if I tried shifting out to 2-hi on the fly, right after the 2-3 shift. Haven't tried doing it any other point, but that felt the safest. I'd need more track time to actually tell if it effected ET or not. I know that running 4-hi all the way through up to 100+ is much noisier.
And I'm completely a'skeered of Auto-4!!?? Real skeptical about it, don't trust it. Feel like I'd pop something.

And damn that's pretty beasty... we'll see what mine actually weighs, but I'd love to get it down to typical 2wd RCSB weight, although I'm not all too worried about it right now.

yeah, believe me, I've heavily thought about going to 4.10's or 4.11's (depending on brand). I'll definitely have the rear apart soon to do a True-trac just to get rid of my stupid 1-wheel peel g80 when turning right! And I've had a TA girdle sitting in the box for a year now, but just never got around to it.
But... my usual guy (who is also somewhat of a friend) told me when he regeared my Sierra that the front diff was such a pain in the *** that he'd have to charge me way extra $$ next time I wanted to regear a GM 4wd!!
So I've been putting that off and just focusing on other mods and dealing with my 3.73's.

To me, u are the epitomy of a sport truck, great looks & it performs.

Think u can even pull it onto a truck stop scale, it's so low?

Mild cam, ha. That thing's thupity thump thump idle sounds awesome.

U don't need any CNC'd heads, nor bigger cam, & u sure as heck don't need spray.

Whatdaya tryin to do? I won't catch u if u do all that. Even so, I'll help u do whatever, 80E, or any of it.

haha, thanks Tom. yeah sounds good. I've never actually paid any attention to truck stop scales before... ? Are they elevated?

And yeah, we'll have to get some wrench sessions going this winter. I've always got random projects all tore apart in my barn. Right now is the wife's DD getting new wheel bearings/hubs and BJ's, my crf450 needing a new bottom end for ice season, then my stupid cub cadet lawn tractor that lost compression... it's never ending...

Your times are similar to what my truck did when it had a LS1 with hand ported 241, 228 cam, 3200 converter and 3.73 gears. IIRC it did 12.7x@104 but that is 2wd with ET streets. I didn't recall yours was 4wd which explains your good 60'.

haha, no doubt.

Was that a DA corrected time?

seeing some of these "black friday" and "cyber blah blah" sales popping up right now has my credit card burning in my pocket wanting to order more go fast goodies, haha!
Have to decide on priorities... been wanting to do a coil-over conversion up front... or new rect. port top-end? hmmm.....

Congrats bud. That's awesome !!

I always run in 4 hi , never in auto .

I've pushed 2hi sometimes and stayed in 4x4 the whole way with no probs, but it's probably safest to keep it in 4hi the whole way .

If you trans ever gives up don't even hesitate to do the 80e , it's def the way to go . You will love how they shift. They might use a lil more power on paper , but you won't notice it and having a reliable trans that can take abuse time after time is awesome .

I have ran my truck both ways. 4hi seems really loud after about 80-90 mph. Last time I shifted out of 4hi in the middle of 2nd gear and it picked up a little mph.

I always shifted out of 4 hi to 2wd after the shift to second in my 07. It would mph faster. Left it in auto trac on the street. I would nail it at 40 and the rears would chirp and then lock down to 4wd. If I had it in 2wd it would burn well past 70. Never hurt it with the built tranny and stock transfer case. I say do it!

Thanks. And yep, 80e definitely on the list, but damn they are tough to find in 4wd!
I REALLY want to do a clocking ring on my transfer case too, so the t-case doesn't hang down below frame completely vulnerable when I raise xmember.

yep, ditto... exactly as I was saying in my above posts...
I might have to try shifting out in 2nd instead of beginning of 3rd just for comparison sake and see if it makes any difference.

I only have stock trans!

I like to stay in 2wd on the street just to hustle people and do rolling burnouts so they think I can't hook, then go 4hi and grip and rip. Very few people around here seem to expect a lowered fullsize to be 4wd. Maybe AWD, like tbss or sss, or syclone but rarely selectable 4 and doing rolling burnouts...

And with my Sierra, I used to use Auto A LOT, loved it in adverse conditions like snow because the short delay would still give a hair of oversteer to drift around with. Used to use it as a DD on expressway and pass people in unplowed lanes after snowstorms too... But I seriously think that all caused the issues I was having more recently with the 4wd - it now refuses to go into 4hi 4 out of 5 times, unless I let it cool down... So I stopped using Auto altogether for about a year now and 4hi consistency has returned to working pretty much every time...

Oh and I forgot to mention...
I don't know if (or how much) this will change with increased power, but I love how at my current lowered height, on a hard launch the front lifts a bit (esp. with the qa1's dialed down) only making the CV shaft angles better! Since they start off raised in angle at ride height, they nearly level out when accelerating. So I never have issues with torque steer or feel the need to strap a corner like a lot of lifted guys do who experience the CV angle getting more extreme and worse on hard launch...

I also added the Cognito double shear pitman and idler arm kit too, just to eliminate any play or slop in the drag link rocking back and forth, and tighten up the steering as much as I could. Also have a steering stabilizer on there too, but I may remove that since it may be overkill...
Any of you 4wd guys reading here have tie-rod sleeves? If so, which ones? I was looking at some 1pc tie-rod units from CST, but waaay too much coin...

Yup I agree/ am the same with the CV angles on launch.
I've never had torque steer or any problems up front.

I don't have tie rod sleeves on my Z71 , but do have them on my Dmax , I bought them from PPE ( pacific performance engineering) not sure if they have them for 1/2 tons , but I bet if you get ahold of Eric Merchant up in Holland MI, he can get you a set reasonable .
