Default slicks on 16" wheel

after checking out blackgmc's older post about the mb wheels 16x8.5 that fits the trucks i think i might go with a 16" wheel. i want to run hoosiers because all the guys that i know who run good at the track are on them. i at first wanted something i could drive on the street but i do have an aluminum jack and the wheels would either have to be changed at my house or the track anyway so i figured save the tires and just go for some 28x10x16 hoosier slicks.

any of you guys see any disadvantages of using the mb wheels 72 on these slicks? i want to get something that i dont have to worry about not hooking with because ultimately i wanna spray out of the hole on top of the blower. looking to order up tonight so i can have them by the weekend to get back down there for last weekend of the season!!

If you get the 28x10's Id recommend you to use a 10" wheel. Might also want to check out MT DR's. Ive seen a Lightning cut a 1.44 60' on them.

I would also suggest a 9.5-10" wheel for the Hoosiers. I have run them on a 7" wheel and a 9.5" wheel and can honestly say they feel much better on the wider wheel. However, if you are on a budget, the 8.5" wheel will work.

I'd prefer to have the 10" wheel but there nothing off the shelf that didnt stick out. The wheels are 220 shipped for the pair and I'm trying to hit the last weekend at the track before they close. I know a couple guys at the track on dr but I'm afraid I'm not going to dead hook on them. I'm sure that lightning has got some suspension work no?

i am on a bit of a budget but its more so because i can get these by saturday and throw down an 11 second pass before the end of the year. i can really see the 7" being at a disadvantage because its out of their range but ideally id like a 9.5 10 because thats what they are measured at. maybe next year ill get some wheels made or make some some if i can find some hoops for a decent price. im more worried about droppin 400 and some bucks on 16" tires and not liking the 16 vs 15. what were your 60's on the 7" wide just wondering.

Yeah I was going to try to get down there last Saturday, but I had too much work to do for school. I was also ******* exhausted, spent 13 hours on Friday replacing all of the hard brake lines on the truck, I blew one last time I was down there in October. Interesting feeling.

My buddy might be there on Saturday with me in his '87 C10 longbed (383 and I believe a D1SC). It'd be cool to see you guys line up, two similar colored lowered blown RCLBs.
