Default Roll Cage

I'm trying to decide if I want to put a cage in my truck.

Pros: I can make full passes at the track.
Cons: $$$, It would drastically shrink the potential market if I ever wanted to sell it, Lexan rear window, ect.

What do ya'll think?

Ok, I just spent the last 2 hours reading every thread I could find by searching "roll cage", and I see only one issue that has me confused. Maybe those with cages can chime in. With the bars coming through the back window, through the floor of the bed and welded to the frame, how could you ever take the bed off without cutting the bars. Am I missing something here?

I would find me a backwoods track that would let you make a pass, or just race the 1/8th.

I think you might want to look at the rules. I believe it has to be directly attached to the frame... IMO that means you can bolt it to the frame via grade-8 bolts and two plates...

just run the 1/8 and then when you make your last pass run the 1/4!! and get kicked out on the last run!! lol...

thats a hard decision that you got to make!! so you use it on the street alot? if its mostly a racetruck then I would do it, if you drive it on the street alot I wont do it...

how about slowprocess's cage is that not a legal cage? or is that just a roll bar?

The last pic's I saw of slowprocess's truck did not have the rear bars. So, no it would not be legal. This decision is really starting to **** me off. I don't drive the truck everyday. In fact I don't drive it but maybe two or three times a month. I built this truck to race at the track, maybe a little on the street and to drive to car shows, cruise-in's, ect.

On another note, since I do want more of a drag style truck, what do think about selling this truck and getting an older one with less options, that I can cut up without having to feel bad. Or sell the truck as it is and build a car. Does anyone have any Idea what the truck might be worth? It's got 18,000 miles on it. I've spent $25K on it in the last year for upgrades.

If I could get a good enough offer, I think I would be willing to sell.
